Munster's Beirne is likely to be a key player for Andy Farrell at RWC 2023, having been a consistent starter when fit in the last two seasons.
Having made his Test debut upon returning to Ireland with Munster in 2018, the versatile forward was promoted to an IRFU central contract in 2022, and played a starring role in the Test series win against New Zealand that summer.
Usually found in the second row, Beirne’s ability at the breakdown has also seen him used in the back row on occasion, something utilised by Munster late in their URC-winning season.
Played all five games for Ireland at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, with three of those appearances coming from the bench.
