Siobhan McCrohan finished just outside the medals in the lightweight women's single sculls after putting in a late surge to place fourth in the A final at the European Rowing Championships in Lake Bled in Slovenia.
The Galway rower had finished second in her heat before winning Friday's repechage to book her place in the final.
In a final dominated by Romania's Ionela Cozmiuc, McCrohan was well outside contention for long stretches but a strong finish saw her claim fourth spot, just one place shy of a medal.
Cozmiuc took gold for Romania, almost three seconds clear of Greece's Evangelia Anastasiadou, with the Czech Republic's Kristyna Neuhortova taking bronze.
There was frustration too for Philip Doyle and Daire Lynch who also finished fourth in the final of the men's double sculls.
Croatia hit the front through the first 500m, with the Irish back in fifth. As the pace quickened, Doyle and Lynch slipped back to sixth but they tried to make a move around the 1250m mark.
The Irish jumped to fourth but could not reel in third-placed Netherlands depsite a gutsy late charge, with Croatia pipping Italy for gold.
Sanita Puspure and Zoe Hyde were sixth in the women's double sculls A final.
Lithuania set the early pace, with the Irish duo - in lane 5 - slipping back after the 500m mark.
The leading trio of Lithuania, Romania and the Dutch opened up a consdierable gap from the rest and it was the Romanians ultimately breaking Lithuanian hearts on the line a ding-dong finish.
Steven McGowan and Katie O'Brien finished fifth in the A final of the mixed double sculls para-rowing final.
The Irish duo had squeezed into the final by virtue of a fourth place finish in the repechage and started strongly in the final, placing in the top three in the early staged before dropping off the pace.
British pair of Gregg Stevenson and Lauren Rowles took gold, with Netherlands and Ukraine taking silver and bronze respectively.

The men's four team of John Kearney, Ross Corrigan, Nathan Timoney and Fionnán McQuillan-Tolan finished fourth in their B final, while Brian Colsh finished second in the C final of the men's single sculls.
