Ronan Byrne capped an incredible week by storming to single sculls gold at the European Under-23 Rowing Championships in Greece on Sunday.

Byrne crossed the line four seconds ahead of Russian Alexander Vyazovkin in the A final.

It comes just seven days after Byrne won silver in the men's double sculls at the World Championships in Austria alongside his partner Philip Doyle.

The pair qualified their boat for the Olympics in the process.

Meanwhile the women's 4+ crew (four rowers plus a coxswain) of Niamh Casey, Lisa Murphy, Katie Shirlow, Clara O'Brien and Aisling Humphries Griffiths finished fifth in their A final.
