Up to 750 rowers and their support teams from 13 countries will take part in the 2018 Coupe de la Jeunesse rowing regatta on Inniscarra Resevoir at the end of this month.

The high profile regatta is one of three events taking place as part of a Festival of Rowing being held at the National Rowing Centre in County Cork over the coming weeks.

The others include the Irish Rowing Championships this weekend (13-15 July) and the Home International Regatta next weekend, 21 July.

This weekend's Irish Rowing Championship will be the biggest ever with some 1200 crews taking part from age 7 to 70.

Rowing Ireland CEO Michelle Carpenter says it’s a big time for Rowing Ireland with the sport thriving and they are delighted to be hosting the Festival of Rowing with the support of the ESB.

The ESB operates Inniscarra Dam which generates electricity and provides water for Cork City.

In 2011, the ESB signed a 25 year lease with Rowing Ireland to allow for the development of the National Rowing Centre on the Inniscarra Reservoir at Farran Woods.
