Olympic silver medallists Paul and Gary O’Donovan finished first and second at the single sculls A Final at the National Rowing Centre in Cork.

Paul finished almost three seconds ahead of his older brother with a time of 7:33.694, with Shane O’Driscoll third and 18-year-old Daire Lynch in fourth place.

The Irish Open, the Ireland trail, was the brothers' first time to compete since their Olympic and World Championships accomplishments.

Fellow Olympian Sanita Puspure again demonstrated her dominance at national level with more than 18 seconds to spare over Denise Walsh in the women’s A final.

UCD won both the women’s and men’s pairs events.
