Heavyweight four miss out on A final spot

Ireland's men's heavyweight four of missed out on a coveted A final place at the Rowing World Cup in Switzerland.

Alan Martin, Sean Casey, Cormac Folan and Sean O'Neill finished in fourth place in their semi-final, but only the top three teams progressed.

The Irish men did well to deal with a blistering pace set by Britain and New Zealand, and had moved from sixth to fourth by the half-way stage.

New Zealand pipped the British on the line and the Irish were unable to overtake the Czech four.

Orlagh Duddy finished fourth in her lightweight single sculls B final this afternoon, to leave her in tenth place overall.

She failed to land an A final place this morning after the Derry native came in third after her semi-final.
