Irish duo Neil Fleming and Brendan Maloney finished seventh in the European K2 Flatwater Canoe Final in Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain, today.
The race of top international quality was won by Kammera and Kucsera of Hungary in a time of three minutes and 21 seconds.
The conditions were different to when Fleming & Maloney set a new Irish record of three minutes and 12 seconds in qualification on Thursday.
The Irish duo also qualified for the K2 500 final tomorrow, coming third in their semi-final yesterday.
This represents an excellent series of championships races for Fleming and Maloney, whose main target for the year is the World Championships in Duisberg, Germany in August, which is also the main Olympic qualifier.
