The Irish men's heavyweight four of Cormac Folan, Sean O'Neill, Sean Casey and Alan Martin became the first Irish boat to qualify for the semi-finals at the World Rowing Championships in Eton today by finishing second in their repechage, behind France, in a time of 5.58.21.
The Irish quartet will have a rest day before they contest the semi-final, where they will be hoping for a favourable draw.
Both Ireland's heavyweight single scullers; Caroline Ryan and Sean Jacob, missed out on semi-finals spots by finishing fourth in their respective repechages this morning; they both go forward to the C & D semi-finals where they will be fighting for overall placings.
Ireland's three lightweight boats all take to the water in the morning in their repechages.
