Ireland's rowers started their World Rowing Championships campaigns in Japan today.
Niamh Ní Cheilleachair placed third in her opening heat of the lightweight single sculls.
The Irish heavyweight men's crew, which included Cormac Folan, Sean Jacob, Sean Casey and Alan Martin, also finished in third place.
Ní Cheilleachair and the men's four now have another chance to qualify for the semi-finals in the repechages on Wednesday.
