Irish crews into semifinals

All three Irish crews racing today at the World Cup regatta in Lucerne have qualified for tomorrow's semifinals, including the men's four, which has been impressive in the first two regattas at Eton and Munich.

The men's lightweight four started slowly but progressed through the field to win their heat, and in the women's lightweight double scull Niamh Ni Cheilleachair and Heather Boyle came second behind Finland, the gold medallists in Munich.

The men's four missed qualifying from their heat by just 0.1 sec but finished off the day with second place in their repechage to join the rest of Ireland's squad in tomorrow's semifinals.
