Tomorrow's Metropolitan regatta at Blessington will be missing several top rowers ahead of the World Cup regatta which takes place in Seville in two weeks time. National trials will be taking place at Inniscara, County Cork at the same time and it is a case of the classic club versus country dilemma. Neil Casey and Neville Maxwell will attend and the meeting will also feature an intriguing senior men's eight race when in-form NUIG will face a strong challenge from Garda and Neptune.
At the Cork trials, lightweight pair Tony O'Connor and Gearóid Towey will take on four other pairs while single sculler John Wholley will also attempt to stake his place in the Irish team. Meanwhile, Albert Maher is continuing training in South Africa and is ruled out of the Seville regatta.
