Victorious is set for the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot, Hollie Doyle causes a stir in Naas as Your Song finds right tune

Victorious is set for the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot after maintaining her unbeaten run as Ryan Moore timed his challenge to perfection in the Coolmore Stud Irish EBF Fillies Sprint Stakes at Naas.

Maria Quiteria pulled them along before the field laid down their challenge approaching the final furlong.

The duelling Vollering, from Archie Watson's yard, and Victorious, who won on her debut over course and distance last month, took it up as Maria Quiteria faded.

Victorious surged clear and the big danger was coming from the rear of the field as Controlla was catching but Aidan O’Brien’s 10-11 favourite held off the newcomer by a neck.

The winner is bred to be good, being by the late Wootton Bassett out of Heaven On Earth, a sister to Minding and Tuesday.

O’Brien said: "She’s still green but she’s lovely. She’s coming lovely. I’m delighted with that.

"Ryan just said he followed two and they died in front of him at halfway and he got left there. She was a bit green when she was in front but it was good for her. The Albany is the plan for her."

O'Brien and Moore later doubled up when Mission Central ran out an impressive winner of the Sole Power Sprint Stakes.

Already gelded, the three-year-old is unable to run in the Commonwealth Cup as a result but was halved in price from 20-1 into 10s for the King Charles III Stakes by Paddy Power.

Always in control against the rail, his high head carriage means he is a rare Ballydoyle runner to wear a noseband but it certainly does not slow him down.

The 5-4 favourite was pushed out to beat Gazelle D’Or by a length and a half meaning he has now won five of eight career starts.

Hollie Doyle

Earlier, Robson De Aguiar dominated the Coolmore Stud Blackbeard Race with Hollie Doyle causing a big surprise on outsider Your Song, leading home a one-two for the trainer.

Doyle was happy to send Your Song forward in a slowly-run race with 4-6 favourite Star Prospect bringing up the rear.

The 25-1 shot ran on gamely with the only real challenge coming from stablemate What A Girl Wants but Doyle held off her rival to win by a neck.

De Aguiar said: "She's a nice filly. Last time, the ground in Cork was too soft for her and she didn’t like it.

"She has a good turn of foot and plenty speed and she confirmed the work she had been doing at home. We’ll try and go for the Queen Mary with her.

"The second horse is also a good filly. I don’t see much between the two. At home, they work well together.

"The race was competitive between the two of them. I think that she can go for the Albany and the winner for the Queen Mary."

Bobby McGee completed a hat-trick in the Royal Ascot Trials At Naas Rated Race.

The Noel Meade-trained Bobby McGee (4-1) took it up in the hands of Colin Keane half a furlong from home to put the race to bed, coming home one and a quarter lengths clear.

Meade said: "He was good today, he was very good. And what can you say about the fella that was riding him? He was good too. I was impressed with him myself today the way that he did that. He won snug enough.

"I suppose we might enter him in the Britannia at Ascot. We’ll see. He might go there. He probably might not want rock hard ground I’d say. A little ease might suit him better. The shower earlier didn’t do him any harm. I couldn’t be more pleased."

Stephen Thorne’s Jagged Edge (10-1) came with a late charge to head stablemate Far From Dandy in the ALTO Equine Building Solutions Handicap while the Twydil/Clovelly Irish EBF Fillies Maiden went the way of Henry de Bromhead’s Totally Puzzled at 50-1.

Meanwhile, Henry de Bromhead saddled a big-priced double highlighted by Wannabe Royal winning the Listed Owenstown Stud Stakes.

Sent off at 33-1, Wannabe Royal made almost all under Ronan Whelan and held off a late challenge from Expanded and Greek Mythology to win by a head.

Whelan stretched them out in the early stages before Greek Mythology laid down a challenge a furlong out, however, she dug deep and while Expanded was gaining with every stride, the line came in time.
