Punchestown card on Wednesday faces inspection

Punchestown
Racing at Punchestown is due to get under way at 1.40pm

Punchestown's seven-race card on Wednesday, which features the Grade Three Matchbook Betting Exchange Quevega Mares Hurdle, must pass a 7.30am inspection due to the prospect of overnight rain and with the ground already heavy.

Brendan Sheridan, IHRB clerk of the course at Punchestown said: "Due to a Status Yellow rain warning which has been issued by Met Éireann today and covers County Kildare, there will be a 7.30am inspection tomorrow (Wednesday) morning at Punchestown ahead of the fixture scheduled to take place tomorrow afternoon.

"The weather warning will come into effect from 11pm this evening and there is the possibility we could get a further 10-15mm of rain from tonight through to the end of racing tomorrow.

"We've had a dry day at Punchestown so far today and the ground remains heavy."
