Fairyhouse Racecourse have been forced to abandon their rescheduled Monday racecard after heavy overnight rain.
A seven-race programme was down for decision from just after lunchtime, with the Fairyhouse Easter Festival Chase arguably the pick of the bunch. However, with conditions deteoriating overnight, the call was made after an 8am inspection.
"Following 6mm of rain this morning, the track here at Fairyhouse is unfit for racing and the fixture scheduled for today has been cancelled," Clerk of the Course, Brian Hamilton said.
"Unfortunately, we have had prolonged periods of rainfall here, the 6mm since our update yesterday afternoon was on top of the 49mm we've had since entries and the ground just could not take any more rain which has left us with no choice but to cancel today's fixture."
