This week's poor weather has disrupted racing

Saturday's meeting at Fairyhouse has been postponed after a deluge of rain left the track unfit for racing.

A downpour of rain since Tuesday has wiped out the fixture, with the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IRHB) later confirming it will now take place on Tuesday 3 February.

The bad weather is also threatening Sunday's card at Naas. A 7.30am inspection will take place at the track to determine if it can go ahead.

"We’ve had 39mm of rain at Naas racecourse this week alone with 9mm since yesterday morning when the ground turned heavy," said Brendan Sheridan, IHRB clerk of the course.

"The rain this week has been very heavy in many places and with the volume of rain falling it has been difficult for the forecasters to predict exact numbers and unfortunately the outlook into the weekend is pretty similar.

"Speaking to Met Éireann this morning, there is the possibility we will get a further 15mm to 20mm of rain through to Sunday morning and in light of that forecast and the current heavy ground conditions, we have called an inspection at 7.30am on Sunday. We are fit for racing at present."

There will also be a 7.30am inspection on Sunday ahead of the Lismore (H) Dungarvan Point to Point fixture.
