It's Bobsled Time ran out a shock 250-1 winner of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Academy Hurdle at Naas on Monday.
The three-year-old had been beaten 50 and 61 lengths respectively in two previous starts and given his trainer Richard Morrissey had not saddled a winner under rules in over 12 years, with few runners since then, it was no surprise he went off at three-figure odds.
However, after being settled off the pace by 7lb claimer Michael Kenneally, the son of Telescope – who is owned by the Cool Runnings Syndicate – began to make headway early in the home straight and finished off well to score by two and a quarter lengths from Ritz Plan.
The winning rider said: "He didn’t have a huge amount of form coming into it, but Richie is a shrewd man and is probably better known for point-to-pointers than anything else.
"They went good and hard early and on that ground they were always going to stop. I was happy to creep away, and he was gutsy and game."
Champion Bumper heroine Bambino Fever met with defeat for the first time after failing to reel in Oldschool Outlaw on her hurdling debut.
Winner of her only start in the point-to-point field, the Willie Mullins-trained Bambino Fever carried all before her in the bumper sphere last season, scoring at Punchestown and at Leopardstown's Dublin Racing Festival before beating the boys in Grade One company at Cheltenham and Punchestown in the spring.
She was the 1-4 favourite to pick up where she left off in the Care At Home Services Mares Maiden Hurdle, with Paul Townend taking over in the saddle from his sister, Jody, but while the market leader jumped well in the main she was unable to peg back a talented and race-fit rival.
Oldschool Outlaw had won a Listed bumper at Navan last month on her first start since joining Gordon Elliott and after taking the lead racing down the back straight, she kept finding for Jack Kennedy to keep the closing Bambino Fever at bay by half a length.

Elliott, completing a treble on the card, said of his 3-1 winner: "You should never be afraid of one horse and if you were afraid of one every day you'd never run. In Ireland you can't duck and dive - there is no hiding place.
"I thought it was a good performance from our mare, albeit we had fitness on our side. Jack said she wasn't for passing and said she was very gutsy. He felt she was in front too soon.
"I think she'll be better over a bit further. We knew she was jumping well at home and she had a couple of runs in point-to-points."
Elliott added: "We'll probably keep her to her own sex, and I think she could be one for the mares' race at Cheltenham. I'd imagine one more run and then straight to Cheltenham."
Elliott also denied Mullins in the curtain-raising BAR 1 Betting NEW APP OUT NOW Beginners Chase, with Kennedy conjuring a late charge out of 5-1 shot Prends Garde A Toi to get up and beat the front-running King Alexander by a neck. The latter's stablemate and 8-13 favourite Funiculi Funicula was back in third.
The Cullentra team's second winner came via Open Secret, who romped to a seven-length success in the BAR 1 Betting Merry Christmas Maiden Hurdle at 5-1.
"I'd say Prends Garde A Toi is more of a handicapper than a graded horse, but he'll win his races and he could make a nice three-mile chaser down the road," said the trainer.
"It was a good performance from Open Secret. He'd a good run the last day in Wexford and probably should have nearly won but he stumbled at the back of the last.
"He stays well and Jack said he loved that ground."
Veteran trainer Mick Winters enjoyed a double courtesy of wins for 15-2 chance Shellrunforbriggs in the BAR 1 Casino Maiden Hurdle and 13-2 poke River Vale in the John Thomas McNamara Series (QR) Handicap Hurdle.
The concluding Irish Stallion Farms EBF Auction (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race went the way of 20-1 shot Tiktok Casey for trainer Peter Fahey.
