Clonmel card gets the go-ahead after morning inspection

Clonmel's Thursday card has gotten the green light after an early morning inspection at the Tipperary track.

The track at Clonmel was found to be fit for racing and the fixture scheduled goes ahead. The ground is now heavy and the first race is scheduled to take place at 1.10pm.

The featured Grade 3 Surehaul Mercedes-Benz Novice Hurdle goes to post at 2.20pm, with four runners going over three miles for a first prize of €21,000. Eddie Harty's Harvard Guy is the morning-line favourite.

Clerk of the course Lorcan Wyer said: "I'm pleased to report following an inspection this morning, the track at Clonmel is fit for racing and the fixture scheduled for today goes ahead.

"We had a further 4mm of rain overnight, the ground is heavy and it will be very testing. The forecast for today is sunny spells with scattered showers."
