Clonmel will now hope to stage its first meeting of the year on Tuesday

With the track waterlogged in places, Thursday's meeting at Clonmel has been cancelled, with the card now rescheduled for Tuesday next.

Following a further 14mm of rain since early this morning and the forecast of another 10mm prior to racing, officials were left with no option but to cancel. Entries reopened until noon on January 12

The meeting was due to feature Willie Mullins' Gaelic Warrior, who is a leading fancy for the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham in March.

Lorcan Wyer, clerk of the course, said: "We have had more rain than we expected at this stage and with such an unfavourable forecast, we felt it was prudent to cancel the fixture at this point rather than wait until the time of the planned inspection (7.30am) with no real hope of prospects improving."
