Aidan O'Brien's Kyprios was a facile winner of the Group One Qatar Prix du Cadran at Longchamp.
A clear favourite (4-7F industry price, 7-10F PMU) after winning each of his five runs this campaign, including the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot, the Goodwood Cup and the Irish St Leger, the chestnut was never far away under Ryan Moore and raced prominently from halfway.
Leading from four furlongs out, he sauntered clear in the home straight, winning by an official 20 lengths despite drifting dramatically across the course to the stands' rail in the final furlong.
Almacado Gree and Tashkhan filled the minor places.
O'Brien said afterwards: "He got lazy and lonely in the straight. Ryan just felt the horse thought it was time to pull up and he thought the race was over before he turned in really.
"He saw the gate he came out of and thought 'my job is over, it’s time to go home!’. He also lost a shoe in the straight, so that might be a little bit of a reason behind what happened as well."
Moore added: "He won easily. Having hung across the track like that, he knows where the winning post is, and the way out too! He’s a very clever and good-natured horse, but he still gave me a scare today.
"The mere fact that he can win by 200 metres shows that he’s inexhaustible (in terms of stamina). He has won six out of his six races this year. He’s an extraordinary horse."
