My weather app needs to be binned. The forecast showers turned to heavy rain. This is a wrinkle we could have done without. Hopefully, it won't stop us finding a few winners on a competitive card.

4.35 Caulfield Industrial Maiden

Not a strong maiden. It will still probably pay to concentrate on those with experience. Moving For Gold should be more comfortable at this trip. He looked to lack the gears for an extended five furlongs at Navan last time out. Emilie Gray probably brings the best form to the party. She has proven inconsistent in her brief career thus far though.

Selection: Moving For Gold 9-4

5.10 Colm Quinn BMW Fillies Maiden

Very hard to oppose Radiyka here. She ran a race full of problem in a Leopardstown maiden. That form is working out a treat. She showed plenty of pace in that race. She should be able to take advantage of her low draw here. LIvia Celeste was quite green on debut a couple of weeks ago. She should come forward here.

Selection: Radiyka 5-4

5.45 Colm Quinn BMW Corrib Stakes

With question marks over the highest rated horses here, a minor surprise could be in store. Claonadh has been performing well in decent company over shorter trips. She remains unexposed, and if the extra distance unlocks improvement she could go close here. The drop in trip probably isn't optimal for Neptune Rock. She should give a good account of herself all the same.

Selection: Claonadh 16-1

6.15 Colm Quinn BMW Mile Handicap

Njord was second when a heavily-backed favourite in last year's renewal of this race. His supporters can count themselves unlucky not to have collected. He has improved since. The handicapper asks a big question of the horse on Tuesday. His inexperienced jockey will need to pick the gaps. That could happen. A low draw, in a race that promises to be truly run, should prove advantageous. Tauran Shaman heads a long list of dangers.

Selection: Njord 8-1

6.45 Handicap

Baseman can make class tell here. He was a comfortable winner last time out in Limerick. The second that day rates a solid yardstick. This well bred, unexposed sort can take this prize on the way to better things. Espouse underperformed last time out. It's too early to write her off.

Selection: Baseman 3-1

7.15 Caulfield Industrial Handicap (Div I)

Out On Friday should go close in his bid to follow up on last year's win in this race. He won twice at the track last season. He returned to form last time out. This race has probably been the target all season. He appeals as well handicapped. Divine Celt should run well.

Selection: Out On Friday 10-1

7.45 Caulfield Industrial Handicap (Div II)

Liberty Star should go well from a handy draw. He remains unexposed and would have gone very close to winning at Naas last time out but for suffering interference. This well handicapped sort rates the best bet on the card. Darkened looks best of the rest.

Selection: Liberty Star 6-1

8.15 Latin Quarter Handicap

Walking On Glass is another horse bidding for a repeat win. He's a bit higher in the weights this time around. Based on recent exploits over hurdles, he should still be well handicapped. Crowns Major could well be underestimated by the assessor.

Selection: Walking On Glass 10-1
