On the day that his sire Galileo died, Bolshoi Ballet took victory at the Belmont Derby Invitational Stakes.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained three-year-old, ridden by Ryan Moore, delivered a fitting tribute in the Grade One race at the New York state racecourse.

Bolshoi Ballet secured the win after joining the frontrunners from the outside on the final stretch before breezing past Cellist and Hard Love.

Tokyo Gold finished second ahead of Cellist.
