The RTÉ cameras will be in Fairyhouse for the second day of their Easter festival meeting. It's high class, competitive fare. Winners won't be easy to find but any that are rootled out should go off at rewarding odds.

The ground is currently yielding. Watering should ensure that it doesn't get any quicker than that.

1:50pm Ryan's Recycling Maiden Hurdle

El Barra hasn't lived up to expectations this season. He does seem to be making gradual improvement mind you, and this race probably represents his best chance to get off the mark over obstacles. Bold Approach is an intriguing recruit to the national hunt game. If taking to the hurdles, he could outclass these.

Selection: El Barra 5/4

2:20pm Crawley Furniture Novice Handicap Hurdle

Viscount Gort appeals as a horse going places. He looked to be getting the hang of things when getting off the mark last time out in Thurles.

A mark of 118 could easily underestimate him on bare form. I'm confident that this longer trip, and better ground, will elicit improvement. There are plenty who could be given a chance here. Papal Lodge is feared most.

Selection: Viscount Gort 10/1

2:50pm Paddy Kehoe Suspended Ceilings Novice Hurdle

This race promises to be run at a strong gallop. That bodes well for Grand Bornand. This horse can be keen in his races. He seems to be settling down a bit though. Slick jumping was a notable aspect of his win last time out. Thedevilscoachman has done little wrong in his career thus far. Another solid shift looks on the cards.

Selection: Grand Bornand 10/1

3:20pm Irish Stallion Farms Mares Novice Hurdle

Royal Illusion brings plenty of ability from the flat to the party. She put in an accomplished round of jumping when getting off the mark over hurdles last time out. She looks a shade overpriced.

Roseys Hollow ran a perfectly sound race in Cheltenham, and this step up in trip promises to suit.

Selection: Royal Illusion 15/2

Grand Paradis

3:50pm Colm Quinn BMW Novice Hurdle

Grand Paradis can take another step up the ladder here. He has climbed a fair way in just four career starts. He bolted up last time out. The second that day gives the form a solid look.

Grand Paradis may need to jump better here. If producing a more polished round, he will be hard to beat. Egality Mans is another with plenty of scope to improve.

Selection: Grand Paradis 11/4

4:25 pm Boylesports Novices Handicap Chase

Epson De Houx was in the process of running a big race when falling at the penultimate fence last time out. He remains relatively unexposed, and the handicapper gives him a chance. Jerandme is probably vulnerable at this trip. His strike rate is hard to ignore mind you.

Selection: Epson De Houx 10/1

5:00pm Underwriting Exchange Gold Cup

On the back of a good effort at the Cheltenham Festival, Asterion Forlonge looks a worthy favourite. He's not a horse to take short prices about though.

Andy Dufresne has a big reputation but did curl up a bit last time out. Cedarwood Road may represent some value. He had some strong novice hurdle form last season. He has taken a while to get going over fences but there were encouraging signs in his win last time out.

Selection: Cedarwood Road 14/1

5:30 pm Tattersalls Sales Bumper

Very little to go one here. Dark Raven is a winner without a penalty. That's a rare, and pleasing spot, for connections to find themselves in. So Scottish cost a few quid at the sales.

Selection: Dark Raven 10/11
