The Juddmonte Irish Oaks is the highlight of a two-day Curragh fixture which starts on Saturday.

The bookies are struggling to find a favourite for the big race. It's just one of a number of classy, competitive contests we can look forward to. There is the possibility of the odd shower.

4.15 Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C & G) Maiden

Wembley looked in need of the experience when third over course and distance a couple of weeks ago. He should take a good step forward here. That would make him very hard to beat. Colour Sergeant is a well-regarded sort. He has plenty of scope for progression.

Selection: Wembley Evs

4.45 Comer Group International Curragh Cup

Twilight Payment is tough and reliable. He can follow up on a recent course and distance win. Memorabilis must find huge improvement to compete here. That can't be ruled out. The step up in trip and application of blinkers both augur well.

Selection: Twilight Payment Evs

5.15 Sentinel Ireland Equine Products Handicap

Thundering Nights can take advantage of what looks a reasonable handicap mark here. She's unexposed after just three runs as a two-year-old. Her maiden win in Galway reads like strong form. The step up in trip promises to suit. Camorra is similarly unexposed. He was pitched into group company on just his second career start. He could be better than a handicapper and is most feared.

Selection: Thundering Nights 9-1

5.45 Paddy Power Minstrel Stakes

Lancaster House is still progressing. He may have enjoyed a tactical advantage when beating Speak In Colours over course and distance on Irish Guineas weekend. Mind you, he might get a similarly easy time on the front here. That, combined with main rival Romanised making his seasonal bow, may be enough to swing the balance. Romanised is a genuine top-level performer. He's not passed over lightly.

Selection: Lancaster House 7-4

6.15 Paddy Power Scurry Handicap

Gulliver looks to have a right chance here. He will enjoy the extended six-furlong trip. He should also get the strong pace he desires. Jockey Gavin Ryan takes five pounds off the horse's back. He comes here off the back of a fine run in Royal Ascot. He rates the best bet on the card. Blairmayne should really be outclassed here. He has run well in high-grade sprint handicaps before though. This course specialist could easily make the frame.

Selection: Gulliver 10-1

6.45  Gain Railway Stakes

Forest Of Dreams is the Ballydoyle second string here. That may help to inflate his price. He looked a thorough professional when winning at Navan last time out. It's reasonable to hope that he might prove too streetwise for his opponents on Saturday. Lucky Vega looked smart when making a winning debut at Naas. That form is working out well, and he's greatly respected.

Selection: Forest Of Dreams 8-1

7.15 pm Juddmonte Irish Oaks

Cayenne Pepper and Ennistymon vie for favouritism. Both came second to top-class fillies last time out. Both were beaten a long way though. This race is an easier assignment, but I'm inclined to look elsewhere. Laburnum rates the selection. This filly has plenty of scope after just two career starts. Inexperience probably cost her victory last time out at Naas. She should have learned plenty from the heat of battle. She can put that to good use. The extra two furlongs on Saturday looks another positive. A double-figure price is too juicy to refuse.

Selection: Laburnum 12-1

7.45 pm Kildare Village Ladies Derby

Grace To Grace remains relatively unexposed. Her recent comeback at this course should have her primed for a big effort. She should relish the return to 12 furlongs. Rocky Blue bolted up at Leopardstown on Thursday night. His credentials are obvious if taking his chance under a penalty.

Selection: Grace To Grace 25-1
