Mishriff gave trainer John Gosden a first victory in the Prix du Jockey Club, recording a gutsy win over The Summit and favourite Victor Ludorum at Chantilly.
A runner-up in the valuable Samba Saudi Derby on dirt at Riyadh on his seasonal reappearance, Mishriff won a hot Listed race in a fast time at Newmarket on his last outing ahead of this assignment.
The winner raced prominently throughout, sitting just off the early pace set by the Aidan O'Brien-trained Order Of Australia and Ocean Atlantique.
As the field passed the three-furlong marker and turned for home, it appeared as if Mishriff was going nowhere. The son of Make Believe doesn't have the most elegant of actions and rider Ioritz Mendizabal was rousting his mount along as he looked for a gap and one last effort.
Order Of Australia and Ocean Atlantique were still battling it out at the head of affairs with a furlong to run, alongside Poule d'Essai des Poulains runner-up The Summit, but it was the Poulains winner and race favourite Victor Ludorum who was catching the eye with his late run on the outside of the field.
However, Andre Fabre's charge seemed to run out of stamina when he needed it most, while Mishriff took off with 100 yards to run to prevail by a length and three-quarters from The Summit, with Victor Ludorum only third.
The winner returned 15-2 on the French-based PMU, with an industry SP of 7-1.

The placings remained unchanged after a stewards' inquiry and Ted Voute, racing manager to winning owner Prince Faisal, said afterwards: "I actually thought he was in a bit of trouble at one stage. It's probably not his ideal ground, but he really picked up once he got into a good position.
"He has improved a lot from two to three - funnily enough, so did Make Believe. It's obviously fantastic for the Prince that Make Believe has now sired a Classic winner for him."
As with most victors of the race, Mishriff's autumn target will likely be the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, although no Prix du Jockey Club winner has gone on to score in the Arc since the race distance was cut back from 12 to 10 and a half furlongs in 2005.
But Voute added: "The way he finished there today, it looks like a mile and a half wouldn't be a problem."
Seamie Heffernan was hit by a 22-day suspension for excessive use of the whip on Order Of Australia, but is unlikely to appeal the sanction.
