Multiple Grade 1 winner Gordon Lord Byron has died suddenly following exercise this morning.

The 12-year-old won 16 races from 108 starts, including Group 1 races throughout the world. 

He won the Minstrel Stakes and Greenlands Stakes in Ireland as well as the Sprint Cup at Haydock, the Prix de la Foret in France and the George Ryder Stakes in Australia.

Gordon Lord Byron was trained by Tom Hogan and owned by the Cahalan family.

He cost just €2,000 and suffered a life-threatening injury to his pelvis on his racecourse debut, but went on to win over €2m in prize money.

The sprinter last ran in Dundalk last year and sadly died following a routine run out today.
