Day three was tough sledding for most punters. Those who kept faith with Samco got their reward in a thrilling finish. Hopefully the final day can prove rewarding.
1.30 JCB Triumph Hurdle
Aspire Tower needs to bounce back from his last-flight fall at Leopardstown last time out. At the prices, it is worth taking the chance that he will. His previous win at the same track over Christmas reads like the best form on offer here. Solo could be the real deal. He's feared most.
Selection: Aspire Tower 15-2
2.10 Randox Health County Hurdle
Saint Roi lacks experience. Not ideal in a big-field handicap. He runs off a very attractive looking mark though. He's just too well handicapped to ignore. Aramon is a classy sort. He has also been given a chance by the assessor.
Selection: Saint Roi 7-1
2.50 Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle
Monkfish looked to be getting his act together in Thurles last time out. There is substance to that form. He can take another step forward here. Thyme Hill ran well in a red hot renewal of the Festival bumper last season. He looks sure to go well again.
Selection: Monkfish 7-1
3.30 Magners Cheltenham Gold Cup
Lostintranslation was carried out on his shield in the JLT last year. He boasts the right profile for this race. It's probably best to forgive his latest Kempton flop. Santini is another talented second-season chaser. He should go close.
Selection: Lostintranslation 8-1
4.10 Cheltenham Foxhunters Chase
Billaway has youth on his side, Patrick Mullins in the plate, and was an impressive winner last time out. That's enough for me. Last year's winner Hazel Hill looks a worthy favourite.
Selection: Billaway 6-1
4.50 pm Grand Annual Handicap Chase
Croco Bay is probably overpriced in his quest to follow up last year's win. He arrives on the back of a solid runner-up effort last time. The handicapper asks a big question of Chosen Mate. He may well find an answer though.
Selection: Croco Bay 33-1
5.30 pm Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle
Ilikedwayurthinkin looks primed to post a career best. He has been eye-catching in two starts this term. This longer trip promises to suit. Front View is another who looks on a handy mark.
Selection: Ilikedwayurthinkin 6-1
