David Mullins is set to undergo surgery after a heavy fall at Thurles yesterday that saw the jockey fracture his collar bone and T12 vertebrae.
The 23-year-old airlifted to Cork University hospital after falling at the fourth fence aboard Lean and Keen in the www.thurlesraces.ie Handicap Chase.
Mullins, who the Grand National at Aintree in 2016 on Rule The World, was reported to be "alert, speaking and moving all limbs" after the fall and Horse Racing Ireland's chief medical officer Dr Jennifer Pugh gave an further update on the jockey's condition.
