A biting finish! Horse attacks rival jockey in France

In her efforts to win the Joubert Listed Stakes at Maisons-Laffitte, three-year-old filly Palomba saw fit to bite a jockey.

The Maxime Guyon-ridden Palomba was sent off the 3-5 favourite at the French venue and as the winning post neared, Palomba tried to take a chunk out of Francois-Xavier Bertras, who was on board Lucky Lyrca,

Despite Palomba's advances, the latter combination held on to win the race, with Bertras saying afterwards: "It was a pretty strange sensation because the filly came alongside and then ducked her head at me while in full flight. It was quite amazing.

"We watched the race back with the stewards and you can see she has me by the arm three times – it was pretty funny to see."
