Well that wasn't so bad. A couple of nice winners on Thursday, Robbie Power coaxing Tudor City to put his best foot forward being the obvious highlight. Hopefully we can ride that wave into Friday.

5.10 pm Guinness Handicap Hurdle
Avenir D'Une Vie heads the weights here. It's quite possible that he can use that class edge to take a number of the opposition out of their comfort zones. He probably still has a couple of pounds in hand and the form of his last two runs is working out nicely. Kerosin is undoubtedly well handicapped over hurdles. His recent efforts need forgiving though.

Selection: Avenir D'Une Vie 12/1

5.45 pm James's Gate Auction Maiden
A decent maiden for the grade. It's probably best to concentrate on a similar race at Leopardstown last month. Santiago and Kassaba finished second and fourth respectively that day. Both were understandably green on debut. They should derive plenty of benefit from the experience. The winner of that race looks a nice type, and the form should work out. Santiago is selected to confirm the form, particularly if he proves more amenable to restraint in the early stages. Kassaba can chase him home.

Selection: Santiago 6/4

6.15 pm Galway Blazers Handicap Chase
Tesseract won a novice chase at the meeting two years ago and he has kept decent company since. His latest second at Kilbeggan looks solid form. If the first time cheekpieces can eke out a bit of improvement, he surely goes close in an ultra competitive heat. Ocean Glandore is in rare form, and looks the type to do just enough. That's a useful skill for handicaps. The rise in grade, and odd slovenly jump might cost him tomorrow though.

Selection: Tesseract 6/1

6.50 pm Guinness Handicap
A high quality renewal. I will concentrate on the progressive three-year-olds. The handicapper probably needed a stiff drink after Camphor's Ulster Oaks romp. He has raised her a stone in response. It may not be enough. Subsequent efforts by the placed horses suggest it was a decent race. The step up in trip isn't guaranteed to suit on pedigree but my hunch is she'll relish it. War Diary probably escaped lightly with just a five-pound rise for his Curragh win. He was value for more that the narrow winning margin.

Selection: Camphor 7/1

7.25 pm Guinness Fillies Maiden
Hazel Bay has been expensive to follow in maidens. She reserves her best efforts to place in stakes company. This is a worrying trend, given her cramped odds tomorrow. This looks a weak race though. If she can't deliver tomorrow, she may never manage it. Peruvian Lily is limited. She's pretty reliable though, and rates the biggest danger.

Selection: Hazel Bay 13/8

7.55 pm Arthur Guinness Handicap
Fugacious has shaped like he wants this step up in trip of late. The handicapper has given him a chance, and the booking of Colin Keane catches the eye. Imposing Supreme looks sure to go well. He's in rare form, and relatively unexposed. Going up seven pounds without winning is always a worry.

Selection: Fugacious 8/1

8.25 pm Rockshore Race
The King has only managed to win one race. That's probably because he keeps elite company. Tomorrow's race represents a massive drop in grade. He's impossible to oppose. Sneaky Getaway is a promising sort. He can complete the forecast.

Selection: The King 10/11
