Buveur D'Air heads seven possibles for the 888Sport Contenders Hurdle after the Listed race at Sandown on Saturday was reopened due to insufficient entries on Monday.

Nicky Henderson's star performer has won this race for the last two years before going on to glory in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham and is likely to follow the same route.

The eight-year-old will be on a retrieval mission, having been beaten for the first time in his last 12 races when going down to stablemate Verdana Blue in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton.

On ratings, Buveur D'Air is far superior to the opposition that could include the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained Torpillo, a wide-margin winner of both his races over hurdles.

Oliver Sherwood has put in his veteran Rayvin Black, runner-up in this race in 2016 and 2017 while Vision Des Flos was a distant third to Buveur D'Air in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle earlier in the season.

Others in the mix are Dan Skelton's Roksana, Evan Williams' De Dollar Man and the Olly Murphy-trained I K Brunel.
