The Jessica Harrington-trained Alpha Centauri was crowned Cartier Three-Year-Old Filly of 2018 at a ceremony in London on Tuesday evening.
The filly was retired after running second in the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown last September having got a chip in her right front fetlock, but prior to that proved a brilliant servant to the Moone trainer and the Niarchos family.
The standout performer of the this year's European flat season landed the Irish 1,000 Guineas, Coronation Stakes, Falmouth Stakes and Prix Jacques le Marois.
It was also a night to remember for John Gosden as his outstanding and versatile three-year-old colt Roaring Lion, winner of the QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes on the same day Alpha Centauri incurred her career-ending injury, was named the Cartier Horse of the Year.
