Cheltenham has announced the National Hunt Chase at the Festival in March will be run in honour of the late John Thomas McNamara.
The Limerick jockey, who was paralysed in a fall at the festival in 2013, died earlier this year at the age of 41.
McNamara rode more than 700 winners under Rules, including 16 at the famous venue in the Cotswolds.
Two of those victories were in the National Hunt Chase, which is a four-mile contest for novice chasers ridden by amateurs.
In 2002 McNamara steered Rith Dubh to glory and followed that up ten years later when winning on board Teaforthree in 2012.
He also enjoyed festival wins in the Cross Country Chase with Spot Thedifference in 2005 and on Drombeag in the 2007 Foxhunter Chase.
His wife Caroline McNamara has said the "race being run in his name at The Festival is a huge honour in his memory."
