Road To Riches to aim for second Galway Plate

Road To Riches is set to bid for a second victory in the Galway Plate later this month.

The Noel Meade-trained nine-year-old was a smart novice chaser prior to winning the Ballybrit showpiece two years ago and has gone on to prove himself at the highest level.

Victories in the JNwine.com Champion Chase at Down Royal and the Lexus at Leopardstown have come his way and he was third to Coneygree in last year's Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Second to Carlingford Lough in the Irish Gold Cup in February, Meade's charge took in the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham this season, finishing third to Vautour.

Meade said: "He's back in to run in the Galway Plate.

"Obviously he'll have top weight and it's a bit strange to see a horse like him with his rating running in a Galway Plate, but he's going to run in it."

RaceBets make Road To Riches the 6-1 favourite (10-1 bar) for the Tote-sponsored Plate on July 27.
