Tom Hogan will aim for back-to-back victories in the Minstrel Stakes with Gordon Lord Byron after he returned to form with a win at Tipperary today.
The eight-year-old has won Group Ones in England, France and Australia but had been without a victory since claiming the Minstrel Stakes last July.
However, Gordon Lord Byron got back in the winning groove with a half-length success over Elleval in the Follow TipperaryRaces On Twitter Race, prompting Hogan to pinpoint the Curragh event on July 17 as a likely next port of call.
The trainer said: "That is a bit of a relief because he has always been a very hard horse to train at this time of year as he suffers from allergies related to pollens.
"I was very disappointed at Leopardstown the last day, but he showed up with an allergy type of mucus.
"Physically he is as well as ever and hopefully things will improve for the rest of the year. I always knew he was genuine and is a very intelligent horse.
"He'll run in the Minstrel Stakes next and hopefully he can get get back up to where he was, but how far he can go I don't know."
