Ground rules out Goldream King's Stand defence at Ascot

Goldream will not defend his King's Stand Stakes crown at Royal Ascot today due to the ground.

The going is reported to be soft following four millimetres of rain overnight, prompting Robert Cowell to withdraw his star sprinter, who triumphed on good to firm ground last year.

Cowell tweeted: "Well that makes it an easy decision - Ascot is now soft ground - Goldream is a non runner. Great shame as very fond of the King's Stand."
