Un De Sceaux aims to follow up his recent win in the Prix La Barka in the French Champion Hurdle at Auteuil on Sunday.

The Willie Mullins-trained eight-year-old proved his stamina over two miles and five furlongs last time out but has another half a mile to contend with.

However, his part-owner Colm O'Connell no longer sees distance as a barrier, and feels Un De Sceaux will be fine as long as there is sufficient cut in the ground.

He said: "The ground is the key. Where some horses can barely gallop through very soft ground, he's even got a turn of foot.

"Usually, they head for the far rail at Auteuil looking for the better ground but Ruby (Walsh) went straight up the middle last time and he went even quicker.

"He's just relentless in soft ground. He has such a high cruising speed and just keeps going.

"Part of me wonders if he can still be at his peak in the middle of June, but Willie rightly says he's lightly raced.

"He loves those baby fences, he just pops over them.

"He's unbeaten in three at Auteuil and is eight out of eight over hurdles. We want to run him against the best and Blue Dragon is the best in France.

"We'll never get our ground at Cheltenham, we know that.

"In future, it might be a case of if he's fit and well - over hurdles or fences - and it's soft ground, he'll be running.

"I can't wait to watch him again."

Un De Sceaux faces 11 rivals, including stablemates Thousand Stars, a dual winner of the race, and Whiteout.

Paul Nicholls saddles Ptit Zig and Silsol, with Gary Moore responsible for Ubak and Nick Williams running Aubusson.
