Ivan Grozny gave weight and a beating to his rivals after turning the Pinsent Masons Handicap Hurdle into a procession to complete a quickfire double for Grand National-winning jockey David Mullins.

Despite having failed to figure on his first two outings this campaign the six-year-old produced the sort of display that saw him strike at Grade Three level back as juvenile hurdler in 2014 and build on a more encouraging display last time out in the County Hurdle.

Held up early on the 16-1 winner moved through full of running at the second-last alongside the equally strong-travelling Automated.

However, it was clear there was only going to be one winner as once Ivan Grozny was asked to go out about his business the response was immediate as he quickened up well to claim victory by eight lengths.

The win also provided the third leg of a treble for Closutton handler Willie Mullins having also scored with Yorkhill and Douvan.
