Conditional jockey Diarmuid O'Regan remains in hospital after suffering multiple injuries in a fall at Haydock on Saturday.

O'Regan was partnering the Jim Goldie-trained Jonny Delta in the Challenger Two Mile Hurdle Series Final when he came to grief at the first flight.

The rider is based with Cleveland-based trainer Chris Grant, who said: "I've spoken to him this morning and he's brighter in himself, but he's obviously quite sore. He took a right slap.

"He's broken his collarbone, he's broken his nose and I think he's broken a couple of ribs. I know they were going to X-ray his knee, but I haven't heard back about that.

"I'd say he might be out of action for a week or so and they want to keep him in hospital for a couple of days to keep an eye on him.

"They're all injuries that will heal. His head is all right, or as right as it ever was anyway!

"They said he was talking sense after the fall and I've never heard him talk sense before, so he must be all right!"
