Whistle Dixie makes hurdling bow at Galway

Dual bumper winner Whistle Dixie makes her first step over timber in the www.galwaysraces.com Mares Maiden Hurdle, which gets Galway's meeting under way at 1.25.

Gordon Elliott's mare signed off the season with a fine fourth in Listed company at Aintree and is likely to take high rank amongst the novice hurdlers this season.

Snaidhm doesn't lack for experience and may put up most resistance.

Elliott runs Captain Von Trappe in the W.B. Gavin And Co. EBF Beginners Chase, having seen the six-year-old finish third on his chasing bow at Punchestown.

This looks a tough contest, though, as Caledon Craic was well fancied before his last run at Sligo, while Salsa Sensation and The Winkler are hurdle winners who could prove nice additions to the chasing ranks.

Altiepix represents Elliott in the Barna Recycling Rated Novice Hurdle, but the Downpatrick winner faces some tough opposition.

Baily Cloud won on his return at Gowran for Mouse Morris and is improving, but Childrens List is most feared for Willie Mullins, having followed up a Downpatrick victory with a solid effort in handicap company last time.

The richest race on the card is the Ennis Lifts Handicap Chase, which sees Drumlee bidding to build on some solid recent outings, while Valours Minion beat Aranhill Chief at Navan and bids to confirm the form.

Eiri Na Casca attempts to follow up a recent success in the Corrib Food Products Handicap Chase, while Josies Orders and Leave At Dawn are a pair of last-time-out winners in the John Mulholland Bookmakers Handicap Hurdle.

There's also action at Wexford, where Mullins pitches both Indevan and Urano into Listed company for the M.W. Hickey Memorial Chase.

The champion trainer's duo are well clear Archie Meade and Gold Patrol on official ratings, so it could be a one-two for him if they all run to form.
