Sprinter Sacre is working as well as he has for the past 18 months, according to his trainer Nicky Henderson.

Once undoubtedly the best chaser in training, his problems started when he was found to be suffering from a irregular heartbeat in a race at Kempton in December 2013.

While he never looks likely to hit the heights he was accustomed to in his youth again, the nine-year-old can still reach a good level of form, as he showed when runner up on his return last season in the Clarence House Chase.

While he was pulled up in the Queen Mother Champion Chase, he bounced back to finish second to Special Tiara at Sandown in April, giving connections hope there are still races to be won with him.

"Sprinter Sacre worked great on Saturday morning and is working at a level that I've not seen for 18 months, although I am not talking back to when he won the Champion Chase as he was electric," said Henderson.

"I think the Shloer Chase (Cheltenham, 15 November) would be a good starting point for him. I can't see no reason why it wouldn't be."
