Long Run will run in hunter chases when he returns from injury to "see if he has any fire left in the tank".

The dual King George and 2011 Cheltenham Gold Cup hero has been out of action since finishing ninth in the Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris at Auteuil in May 2014 after sustaining an injury on his journey back to Britain.

Despite being out of action for more than a year, plans are in place to bring the Robert Waley-Cohen-owned 10-year-old back to the track later on this season.

Sam Waley-Cohen, Long Run's regular rider and the owner's son, said: "Long Run is fine, he is just trotting at the moment.

"We will start him off in hunter chases, then see if he has any fire left in the tank."
