Trainer Shark Hanlon is delighted with Hidden Cyclone's perch in the handicap following the publication of the weights for next week's Guinness Galway Hurdle.

The top-class chaser made an impressive return to action in a Leopardstown Flat race earlier this month and will revert to hurdling in one of the Galway Festival's most prestigious events.

Hidden Cyclone is rated a full 20lb lower over the smaller obstacles than over fences and should current top-weight Kitten Rock take his chance, Hanlon's charge will carry just 10st 3lb, minus the 3lb claim of jockey Brian Hayes.

"He has come out of Leopardstown in super form and he has a lovely weight on his back in the Galway Hurdle," said the trainer.

"Mrs Mee (owner) loves Galway and it is great for her to be going there with a contender.

"Brian Hayes will ride him. Brian has been riding great and he only has a few winners left of his 3lb claim.

"The run at Leopardstown has really sharpened him up and I think goes there with a big shout."

Hidden Cyclone and Kitten Rock are among 59 entries for next Thursday's feature.

Tony Martin has a formidable hand, including last year's winner Thomas Edison and ante-post favourite Quick Jack.

Gordon Elliott is set to saddle last year's second and third, Bayan and The Game Changer, while Jessica Harrington could have three runners.

She said: "Macnicholson will run and I also hope to run Modem. Rae's Creek is in as well at the bottom of the weights".

Willie Mullins is responsible for seven contenders, including recent Grimes Hurdle winner Diakali, Royal Ascot hero Clondaw Warrior and the admirable veteran Thousand Stars.
