Top-class miler Toormore will carry the Godolphin colours for the remainder of his racing career after being sold by Middleham Park Racing.
The Arakan colt was champion juvenile for the successful ownership syndicate two years ago, clinching Group One glory in the National Stakes at the Curragh.
A comeback victory in the Craven Stakes aside, his Classic campaign was largely disappointing, but he has run two excellent races so far this season, filling the runner-up spot behind stable companion Night Of Thunder in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury before finishing fourth to French ace Solow in the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot.
The four-year-old will remain with champion trainer Richard Hannon before being retired to stud.
Middleham Park racing manager Tim Palin said: "Darley have been interested in Toormore for a little while now and we have decided the time is right to let him go.
"He will stay in training with Richard and race on for Godolphin for the foreseeable future before retiring to either to Kildangan or Dalham Stud, whenever that might be.
"We are hugely grateful to Sheikh Mohammed. It is an honour and a privilege to be dealing with an operation like Godolphin and Darley, and the fact that he is going to the very best people around and will have the chance to become the best possible stallion he can be was the linchpin to the deal.
"Toormore was champion two-year-old in 2013 and catapulted Middleham Park into a different stratosphere, so we will always be grateful to him, Richard Hannon and Richard Hughes.
"The owners in him have already indicated a willingness to reinvest. The kitty has been topped up and they are ready to roll the dice and look for the next champion when the yearling sales start in six weeks' time.
"The owners have known for a while he would eventually have to be sold before the next chapter of his life as a stallion and we feel now is the right time.
"He's a Group One horse and we really do wish his new owners every bit of success with him."
