Connections of Zawraq have not ruled out the possibility of him making a return to action before the end of the season.

The Dermot Weld-trained colt missed the Derby at Epsom earlier this month after suffering a crack in his off-fore cannon bone in the build up to the mile-and-a-half contest.

Although the unbeaten three-year old is now recuperating from his setback, connections have not yet given up all hope of having him back in action before the end of the campaign.

Angus Gold, racing manager to owner Hamdan Al Maktoum, said: "Zawraq has had two screws put in his leg and is now back at the stud where he will be for the next two months.

"We may run him at the back end of the season if all goes to plan. Hopefully he will still be around for next season."
