Un Temps Pour Tout made all the running under James Reveley to achieve Grade One glory in the Grande Course de Haies d'Auteuil in Paris.
The David Pipe-trained six-year-old enjoyed the run of the race from the front and won unchallenged as a 99-10 shot from the Willie Mullins-trained Thousand Stars (30-1).
The grey stayed on well from the rear to claim the runner-up spot in a race often referred to as the French Champion Hurdle in the hands of Katie Walsh.
Sam Twiston-Davies steered Zarkandar (8-1) into third place for trainer Paul Nicholls, with Dos Santos first of the home contingent in fourth.
Un Temps Pour Tout's stablemate Ballynagour was fifth, with 21-10 favourite Hurricane Fly sixth after never looking like adding to his 22 victories at the highest level.
Pipe said: "It was a fantastic race. Horse and jockey were very brave and galloped all the way to the line.
"Ballynagour ran well and finished fifth, but the trip was probably better for Un Temps Pour Tout than it was for him."
