Toast Of New York is unlikely to be seen on a racecourse this year.

The four-year-old colt, last seen finishing a brilliant second in the Breeders' Cup Classic, is reported to be recovering well from the soft-tissue injury which ruled him out of the Dubai World Cup in March.

But Jamie Osborne's star is likely to miss the domestic season, with the hope he will be ready to have another shot at the world's richest race at Meydan next year.

Harry Herbert, racing manager for owners Al Shaqab Racing, said: "Toast Of New York is recuperating well.

"Jamie Osborne and the team vets are delighted with how he is progressing.

"I am not sure he will be seen again this season and I would say that the most likely scenario is getting him ready for next year's Dubai World Cup."
