Connections of Consort are hopeful he will be ready in time to take his chance at Royal Ascot.
The winner of a mile maiden at Newmarket in October, the Michael Stoute-trained colt had been a general 20-1 chance for the 2000 Guineas but bypassed the Classic.
Harry Herbert, spokesman for owners Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, said: "Consort has just taken his time to come to hand this year.
"Michael Stoute is very pleased with how he is working, but there are no specific plans at this stage.
"He has grown a lot from two to three and has probably grown more than any other horse in Michael's yard.
"The 2000 Guineas just came too soon for him, but hopefully he will be ready to roll at Royal Ascot."
