Confidence is high in Ervedya as she steps back into Group Once company for the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas) at Longchamp on Sunday.
The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained filly was among the very best of her generation last season, so much so that connections let her tackle the colts in the Prix Morny, where she finished third behind The Wow Signal.
She was then second to Found in the Prix Marcel Boussac and reappeared this season with an impressive display in the Prix Imprudence, a noted trial for the Classic.
Owned and bred by the Aga Khan, his racing manager Georges Rimaud said: "She's had no trouble since her last race and has been working very nicely.
"She worked last Monday and looked very good and now we are just waiting for Sunday.
"Everything has gone well with her, we've had no problems.
"I think she can handle any ground, really. She's shown already that she's won on very soft and on good.
"I think it will be somewhere in between that on Sunday - not too deep. It's also not very warm so it won't get too sticky, it should be fair for everyone.
"She's a good filly. She has never disappointed us and nearly beat the colts in the Morny last year. We're just keeping our fingers crossed now.
"It's nice for Siyouni (sire) that this early in his career he has one as good as her. There are a few other nice ones, but she is his flag-bearer.
"From that point of view it is important she runs well."
Her task will not be easy, however, as she has been drawn in stall 12 in the 14-runner field.
There are two British-trained runners.
Martyn Meade's Irish Rookie, who ran so well behind Legatissimo at Newmarket last week, and the Jonathan Portman-trained Royal Razalma, winner of the Cornwallis last year but well beaten on her return in the Fred Darling.
Andre Fabre is obviously one of the first names punters will be looking for and he has two representatives, the unbeaten Mexican Gold and Soft Drink, whom the trainer thinks could surprise a few.
"Mexican Gold is a very nice filly, bred by Juddmonte," said Fabre.
"She's has already won twice in soft ground so that will hold no fears for her. She won the Prix de la Grotte well.
"I'm sure she'll give a good account of herself. She has a nice future, hopefully.
"Soft Drink was one of my big hopes as a two-year-old but she failed to even win a maiden.
"It turned out she had a virus so she can be excused her run in the Boussac.
"She was very impressive on her only run this season and I'm confident she will run very well."
Sainte Amarante has looked good in winning twice this season, while Ameenah gave Ervedya most to do in the Imprudence.
