Meeting at Down Royal rescheduled for next Wednesday, 11 February

Wednesday's meeting at Down Royal has been called off due to frost.

The track was due to stage a seven-race card but officials have concluded there is little chance of the track being fit to race after temperatures dropped well below freezing overnight.

A statement from the Irish Turf Club said: "The Turf Club has announced that the fixture scheduled for Down Royal on Wednesday, February 4 has been cancelled due to frost.

"The temperature at Down Royal is presently minus 6C and is not set to rise during today, while another severe frost is predicted overnight."

Horse Racing Ireland moved quickly to reschedule the fixture, however, and the meeting will now take place on Wednesday, 11 February.

The rescheduled meeting will close for fresh entries on Thursday, 5 February with declarations to run to be made by 10am on Tuesday, 10 February and the same programme of races will be scheduled.

Trainers are reminded that entries already made must be repeated.
