Trading Leather will do battle in Tokyo

Jim Bolger reports Trading Leather in top trim ahead of the Japan Cup at Tokyo on Sunday.

The County Carlow handler believes the 2013 Irish Derby winner has made a seamless transition to life in Japan as he aims to give owners Godolphin a first victory in the Grade One over a mile and a half.

Trading Leather has not won since claiming the Curragh Classic last June, but he has continually fought his corner against the best in the business.

The four-year-old son of Teofilo was last seen finishing third in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown in September.
Bolger told www.godolphin.com: "Trading Leather is very well.

"Everything has gone well with his preparation - he travelled to Japan very well and is in great form.

"The ground will be good and we will be happy with that."

Ever-present jockey Kevin Manning said: "Trading Leather has taken everything very, very well and we're very happy with him.

"He's settled in and I was very pleased with how he moved and looked on Friday morning."
